Hana Kumi Bakehouse began with a simple dream, a small home oven, and a passion that never left my heart.
For many years, I built my career as an accountant. I loved the challenges that came with my profession, but deep inside, there was always a quiet calling to create. Baking became my creative escape—a place where I could express myself beyond numbers. To me, baking is an art, and every cookie I make is a small masterpiece, thoughtfully crafted with patience, premium ingredients, and attention to every detail.
The dream of Hana Kumi came to life shortly after my trip to Japan. During my travels, I fell in love with the extraordinary care and craftsmanship that the Japanese put into their food and pastries. Every bakery I visited reflected a deep respect for quality, precision, and the joy of creating something meaningful.
I remember telling myself, “If I ever open my own pastry shop, I want every product I make to reflect that same standard of excellence.” That promise continues to inspire everything we bake today.
The name Hana Kumi was lovingly given by my partner as this dream was beginning to take shape. In Japanese, Hana (花) means flower, while Kumi (組) means group or collection. Together, Hana Kumi evokes the image of a beautiful gathering of flowers—each one unique, yet together creating something even more beautiful.
For me, Hana Kumi is more than just a name. It represents growth, hope, and the courage to follow a dream, no matter where life leads you. I believe it’s never too late to pursue what sets your soul on fire, and just like flowers, we all bloom in our own season. We bloom where we are planted.
What started as homemade treats baked in a small home oven soon became something much bigger. As family, friends, and customers began appreciating my cookies and asking for more, what was once a personal passion slowly grew into Hana Kumi Bakehouse.
Today, every cookie is handcrafted with the same care that inspired this journey—from premium ingredients to meticulous preparation, with Japanese craftsmanship serving as our inspiration.
